GS Engineering and Construction announced on the 11th that it has partnered with world-renowned architect "David Chipperfield," who received the Pritzker Prize, known as the 'Nobel Prize of architecture,' to present a differentiated design for the Seongsu Strategic Zone 1 maintenance area.
"David Chipperfield Architects" is a leading architectural firm headquartered in London, with offices in Berlin, Milan, and Shanghai. Major projects include the restoration of the Neues Museum in Berlin, Germany, the James Simon Gallery, and the Westbund Museum in Shanghai, China.
GS Engineering and Construction plans to present a futuristic residential space that encompasses not just simple housing but also architectural completeness and urban symbolism in the Seongsu Strategic Zone 1 maintenance area through this collaboration.
Previously, GS Engineering and Construction had signed a partnership for technical cooperation with the global engineering corporation "ARUP" for the comprehensive design of super-tall landmark buildings.
Having secured essential core technologies related to structure, equipment, and safety critical for super-tall residential facilities, GS Engineering and Construction has completed its preparation to participate in the Seongsu Strategic Zone 1 maintenance area, which will form a super-tall skyline along the Han River through collaboration with David Chipperfield Architects.
An official from GS Engineering and Construction noted, "Our goal is to transform the Seongsu Strategic Zone 1 maintenance area into a city landmark, not just a simple residential complex, through collaboration with a global architectural design firm," adding, "We will continue to lead the future of architecture in Korea through ongoing technological innovation and global partnerships."
