DL E&C announced on the 10th that it is establishing response plans for each site and conducting intensive checks ahead of the peak heat period.

On the 29th of last month, DL E&C conducted inspections at worksites in the Gyeongnam region in collaboration with the Ministry of Employment and Labor. Lee Gil-po, DL E&C Chief Safety Officer, also participated in the inspections that day.

They focused on confirming plans for the installation of heatwave response rest facilities and shade structures, the distribution of cooling devices (such as cooling vests and cool scarves), and the operation and preparation of workers' hydration and rotational rest systems.

Jeong Won-hee, head of the Jinju branch of the Ministry of Employment and Labor, emphasized, “It is essential to take special care and proactive measures to ensure that workers at the sites are not exposed to heat-related illnesses this summer.”

DL E&C plans to conduct a heatwave safety and health campaign this summer. This campaign is designed based on the five basic rules of the heatwave from the Occupational Safety and Health Agency: water, wind and shade, rest, cooling devices, and emergency measures. DL E&C's 'arithmetic operations' heatwave response campaign consists of adding water and salt, subtracting outdoor work during heatwave hours, multiplying shade, rest, and cooling devices, and dividing interest (worker health) and information.

DL E&C distributed a site inspection checklist related to the 'arithmetic operations' campaign. This checklist includes the inspection of facilities for worker hydration and salt intake, whether rest areas, cooling facilities, and rest times are provided according to different stages of the heatwave, and plans for managing and training sensitive workers concerning heat-related illnesses. From mid-month, during the concentrated management period of the heatwave, they plan to receive weekly reports on the related facilities and operational status at the sites and verify compliance.

Lee Gil-po, Chief Safety Officer, urged, “Let all parties at the sites actively implement safety and health management to ensure that not a single heat-related illness incident occurs, and thoroughly prepare and implement the heatwave response for the 'arithmetic operations.'”
