The conflict surrounding the construction cost between the Cheolsan Jugong 8 and 9 Complex reconstruction (Cheolsan Xi the Heritage) association and the construction company GS Engineering and Construction has been resolved after five months. With a construction cost increase proposal of 52 billion won passing the association's general meeting, occupancy is set to begin on the 30th.
According to the maintenance industry on the 23rd, a management and disposition plan amendment that included a 52 billion won increase in construction costs was approved at the regular general meeting of the Cheolsan Jugong 8 and 9 Complex reconstruction association held the previous day. Earlier, the association and the construction company, GS Engineering and Construction, agreed to increase the construction cost by 52 billion won.
The total construction cost has increased from 877.6 billion won at the time of the contract in December 2019 to 1.0297 trillion won, an increase of about 150 billion won. The construction cost has been raised several times, including an increase of 41.6 billion won in February 2022 and 58.5 billion won after the general sale in December 2023.
The conflict over construction costs began in January when GS Engineering and Construction sent a letter to the association demanding an increase of 103.2 billion won. GS Engineering and Construction stated in the letter, "If a smooth agreement with the association is not reached, there may inevitably be restrictions on the occupancy of the members of the association."
The Gyeonggi Province Dispute Mediation Committee held a meeting with GS Engineering and Construction and the association and proposed a mediation plan for an increase of 59.6 billion won in construction costs. After negotiations, the association and the construction company agreed on a reduced amount of 52 billion won, cutting 7.6 billion won.
