The Mokdong Section 6 in Yangcheon District, Seoul, has received the first approval for the establishment of a union among the Mokdong New Town apartments.
According to the maintenance industry on the 22nd, Mokdong Section 6 obtained union establishment approval just six days after applying to Yangcheon District on the 16th.
Considering that it generally takes about 3 to 4 weeks from the application for union establishment to approval, it is being evaluated as having progressed at a fast pace.
Completed in 1986, Mokdong Section 6 is expected to transform from a maximum of 20 floors and 1,362 households to a maximum of 49 floors and 2,173 households (including 273 rental units) through reconstruction.
Mokdong Section 6 is the fastest in terms of maintenance project speed among the Mokdong New Town Apartments 1 to 14. After passing the safety inspection in June 2020, it received designation as a maintenance area in August of last year. It chose to skip the promotion committee stage and proceed directly with the union establishment method.
Hwang Hee-joong, the chairman of the Mokdong Section 6 union, said, "We plan to commence the design process and aim to select a construction company by the end of the year or early next year."
