Hoban Construction announced on the 20th that it has completed a pilot test of an exterior wall painting robot at the 'Hoban Summit Incheon Geomdan AB19 Block' site in Seo-gu, Incheon.

Officials from the public-private consultative body 'Smart Construction Alliance' also attended the site on that day to promote the dissemination of smart construction technology.

The exterior wall painting robot 'Rollot' from the automation equipment specialist 'WPS,' which was discovered by Hoban Construction's open innovation team, is a smart construction device that enables remote roller painting while moving vertically along a wire.

This robot can paint a surface at a maximum of 10m per minute, which is 2.5 times faster than manual labor on site. It is also expected to provide excellent construction quality with less impact from weather conditions during high-rise exterior wall work.

It has the advantage of being environmentally friendly by preventing pollution issues caused by dust dispersion and chemical paint diffusion from traditional spray painting methods. Additionally, it can replace high-risk tasks performed by on-site workers, fundamentally preventing safety accidents such as falls.

After on-site demonstration, Hoban Construction plans to comprehensively evaluate the robot's safety, environmental performance, and construction capability before considering it for the main construction of the 'Hoban Summit Incheon Geomdan AB19 Block' and future new construction sites. Furthermore, Hoban Construction, Samhwa Paint, and the eco-friendly concrete admixture development company 'Posregen' will jointly use eco-friendly coatings to maximize synergy in the working environment.

Kim Jae-eun, head of the open innovation team at Hoban Construction, noted that 'the introduction of smart construction equipment is expected to continuously create safer and more eco-friendly sites' and added, 'Starting with this demonstration, we will do our best to proactively discover robot technology and apply smart construction equipment on site.'
