SK ecoplant is pushing for the new incorporation of four subsidiaries related to semiconductor materials of SK Group. As the semiconductor and artificial intelligence (AI) related business portfolio strengthens, sales increases, revenue diversification, and improvements in financial soundness are expected.

SK ecoplant announced on the 13th that it will incorporate a total of four material corporations, including ▲SK trichem, ▲SK resonac, ▲SK materials jnc, and ▲SK materials performance, which are subsidiaries under SK Materials, a corporate independent company (CIC) of SK Group.

SK Group will make in-kind contributions of its equity stakes in SK trichem (65%), SK resonac (51%), and SK materials jnc (51%) to SK ecoplant. For SK materials performance, which holds 100% equity, there will be a comprehensive stock exchange with SK ecoplant. The incorporation of the subsidiaries is expected to be completed by the end of this year.

SK ecoplant is expected to strengthen its corporate competitiveness by establishing a comprehensive service value chain in semiconductors in accordance with the portfolio expansion.

SK ecoplant has internalized the core materials necessary for key processes in semiconductor manufacturing, including ▲photo process, ▲etching process, ▲deposition and ion implantation process, ▲metal wiring process, and ▲packaging process, as well as the supply capability of materials for the organic light-emitting diode (OLED) deposition process, which is a key process in display manufacturing.

SK trichem is a specialized company that provides precursor materials needed for attaching thin films to semiconductor wafers. SK resonac supplies special gases used in the etching process to remove unnecessary parts outside of the semiconductor circuit patterns.

In addition, SK materials jnc produces and supplies blue dopant, a light-emitting material for OLEDs. SK materials performance is a specialized company that provides photo materials used in processes for forming semiconductor circuits on wafers. It has also localized the photo process cleaning agents for the first time in the country, which are currently in mass production.

SK ecoplant is expected to strengthen its foundation, resulting in improved revenue and profitability due to the incorporation of these robust assets. The combined sales of the four subsidiary corporations scheduled for incorporation last year amounted to approximately 350 billion won.

A representative of SK ecoplant noted, “SK ecoplant will continue to establish a stable growth foundation through the strengthening of its business portfolio.”
