Vice Chairman Park Hyun-cheol of Lotte Construction held a kickoff meeting with members of the 5th Junior Board on 28th at the Hanok Gallery 'Eum The Place,' located in Bukchon Hanok Village in Jongno-gu, Seoul.
Since 60% of Lotte Construction's employees are in their 20s and 30s, the company has been operating the 'Junior Board' since 2021 to listen to their opinions and improve organizational culture, facilitating active communication between management and junior employees. Since last year, it has been serving as a consolidation named 'LINC' to connect the field with headquarters and seniors with juniors.
The 5th Junior Board selected 12 employees born after 1991, considering various levels, positions, and genders to represent diverse strata. This year, it plans to hold discussions with management on the themes of 'respect and consideration' and 'leadership communication skills,' share and exchange case studies on 'changing work methods,' and conduct interviews to foster a culture where members communicate with each other and resolve issues. According to Lotte Construction, this aims to establish an organizational culture based on autonomy and innovation and reflect junior employees' opinions in key company decisions.
The kickoff meeting was held in a tea meeting format to allow Vice Chairman Park and the Junior Board to share their opinions freely. The Junior Board shared videos created using AI depicting their envisioned future selves and took time to ask Vice Chairman Park Hyun-cheol questions and receive answers.
Vice Chairman Park said, 'If there are better opinions than your own, you must be a communicative leader who accepts and implements them,' and added, 'Through the Junior Board, I will actively support the proposal and improvement of innovative organizational culture ideas towards New Spirit.'
