The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on the 7th that a bid support team led by Vice Minister Jin Hyeon-hwan plans to discuss transportation infrastructure and urban development cooperation measures in Uzbekistan from the 7th to the 9th of this month.

The bid support team will visit Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, and support the procurement of large infrastructure projects such as high-speed rail and airports through meetings with the Ministry of Transport. They will then discuss cooperation measures related to the bio-cluster and smart city with the Ministry of Innovation Development and the Ministry of Pharmaceutical Industry Development, and plan to support the entry of corporations into the 'Korean-style new city development project' with the Tashkent provincial government.

On the 8th, Vice Minister Jin will meet with the Deputy Minister of Transport to discuss the new high-speed rail line from Tashkent to Samarkand, for which a feasibility study is currently underway through the Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF) financial support from the Export-Import Bank. They will also discuss expanding railway cooperation, including the introduction of the Korean-style railway system to the upcoming new lines and existing tracks, and the export of Korean general railway vehicles. Additionally, plans for airport project procurement support will be conducted to demonstrate the excellence of our technology and experience regarding the expansion and operation-maintenace of Urgench International Airport facilities.

On the same day, Vice Minister Jin will closely discuss ways to strengthen cooperation between the two countries on urban development and smart cities with Administrator Rajabayev of the Ministry of Innovation Development and Deputy Commissioner Elmuratov of the Ministry of Pharmaceutical Industry Development. Our government plans to further enhance smart city cooperation between the two countries by supporting the analysis of development conditions and the establishment of development plans through the 'K-City Network Program' related to the pharmaceutical cluster being developed by the Uzbekistan government.

Vice Minister Jin also plans to listen to the difficulties and requests regarding overseas business through a meeting with our construction corporations operating in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

On the 9th, Vice Minister Jin will meet with Governor Mirziyoyev of Tashkent to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation between the two countries on urban development and smart cities, as well as the 'Korean-style new city development project' proposed by our corporations. The Korean-style new city development project aims to promote a new city with medical functions in the eastern part of Tashkent, New Tashkent.

Vice Minister Jin said, 'Through the dispatch of this bid support team, we plan to strengthen the cooperation system in urban development with the Uzbek government and activate exchanges,' and noted, 'We will continuously strengthen intergovernmental cooperation to expand the participation of our corporations in the transportation infrastructure sector.'
