The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the Korea Overseas Infrastructure and City Development Corporation (KIND) presented a smart transportation blueprint for the metropolitan area of Ukraine.
On the 3rd, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on the 6th that it held the final report meeting for the establishment project of the 'Kyiv region transportation master plan' in Kyiv, Ukraine.
The final report meeting was attended by multiple related agencies and corporations, including the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and KIND. From the Ukrainian side, Vice Minister of Community Territorial Development Marina Denysiivka, local officials from Kyiv, and Ukrainian corporations were present.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport previously dispatched a joint public-private reconstruction cooperation delegation to Kyiv, Ukraine, in September 2023 and announced a leading project to be jointly promoted with the Ukrainian government.
The leading project, which includes the 'Establishment of the Kyiv Transportation Master Plan,' is aimed at directly presenting spatial development and reconstruction plans for the Kyiv region, which corresponds to the metropolitan area of South Korea, and establishing a smart transportation master plan in connection with this. This project has been selected as a supported program by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, with tasks being carried out by KIND.
At the final report meeting, KIND explained the master plan to the Ukrainian government, which includes ▲ spatial development and reconstruction plans for the Kyiv region ▲ transportation infrastructure improvement and expansion measures ▲ smart mobility establishment strategies, among others. The master plan presented short-term, medium-term, and long-term reconstruction directions for Kyiv in accordance with the Ukrainian national reconstruction plan, as well as improvements in the areas of infrastructure, public transportation, operation and safety, and parking, along with a smart mobility promotion strategy linked to the European Union's pan-European transport network project.
Participating agencies and corporations from both countries discussed future plans for the utilization of the master plan, commercialization strategies, and specific cooperation methods.
Vice Minister Marina Denysiivka expressed gratitude to the South Korean government and corporations for successfully establishing the transportation reconstruction master plan for the Kyiv region. She noted that she would work closely with related agencies to ensure the project can commence this year and suggested, 'Based on this master plan establishment project, let's carry out a variety of joint projects through close cooperation between the two countries.'
Nam Young-woo, Director of the Construction Policy Bureau at the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, stated, 'I expect that the Kyiv transportation master plan established by our corporations will serve as a cornerstone in restoring transportation facilities in the war-torn Kyiv region based on smart and low-carbon mobility infrastructure,' and added, 'We will actively support our corporations to participate in reconstruction projects while discussing the commercialization plans of core tasks derived from the master plan with the Ukrainian government.'
Kim Bok-hwan, president of KIND, noted, 'Based on the partnership between the two countries, we will continuously support the cooperation network between our corporations and the Ukrainian government and corporations, while actively seeking future Ukrainian investment and development projects to expand participation opportunities in reconstruction efforts.'
