LX Hausys announced on the 3rd that it has introduced a 'Bio SMR furniture film' made using plant-based materials.
The 'Bio SMR furniture film' is a product made by applying a bio-carbon coating to a PET film created with LX Hausys' differentiated SMR (satin finish) coating technology. LX Hausys is the first in the domestic furniture film industry to launch a product using plant-based materials.
Bio-carbon is a material based on carbon extracted from biological sources such as plants. Unlike carbon derived from fossil fuels, it has less impact on the environment and is increasingly being used as an eco-friendly materials and supplies in both domestic and international furniture industries.
The 'Bio SMR furniture film' has completed verification for film coating containing bio-carbon at BETA analytics, a certified testing institution in the U.S. It has also passed the food contact safety evaluation of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and its eco-friendliness has been recognized by global professional institutions.
This film has been released in a total of 66 varieties that not only implement the matte surface texture that is gaining great popularity among consumers in the recent furniture market but also captures designs reminiscent of natural materials such as stone and wood. It addresses the weaknesses of matte products, such as susceptibility to scratches and stains and the issue of fingerprints not being visible.
In a test result from the Italian certification institution CATAS, it obtained a report meeting the stringent European standards (EN) in two categories: scratch resistance and stain resistance, proving its strong durability.
LX Hausys also launched a product in the form of board (film attached to MDF) with the same matte surface texture and bio-carbon coating, called 'LX Z:IN furniture board (Borte 7).' MDF (medium-density fiberboard) is a board made by pressing wood fibers at high temperature and pressure.
A representative from LX Hausys noted, 'Recently, as domestic and international furniture companies are expanding their eco-friendly product lines, the demand for furniture films made with raw materials that help reduce carbon emissions is rapidly increasing.' They added, 'The Bio SMR furniture film, which we introduced as the first in the industry, is already garnering great interest, as supply has begun to furniture companies both domestically and internationally.'
