Environmental corporations YIDO are actively pursuing the renewable energy business as they have obtained the permits for the solar power development project on saline land in Dangjin.
YIDO passed the development review from the South Chungcheong Provincial Office for the solar power development project with a scale of 50 megawatts (MW) in Daehogji-myeon, Dangjin, and recently received final approval from the city of Dangjin on the 5th.
YIDO plans to start construction soon after going through procedures such as reporting the construction plan, following this approval, and is also in the process of selecting a constructor.
In addition to the 50 MW approved through this development permit in Daehogji-myeon, Dangjin, YIDO is pursuing a total business scale of 70 MW, including an additional 20 MW permit.
In connection with this project, YIDO plans to pursue a solar power development project with a total scale of 120 MW, including an additional 50 MW development in nearby areas.
Currently, aside from the solar power project, YIDO is also conducting a 400 MW offshore wind power project at a point 44 km west of Guleop-ri, Ongjin-gun, Incheon, in the exclusive economic zone.
YIDO has completed wind measurement and site consulting and is preparing for the power business permit. They are maintaining collaborative relationships with offshore wind power corporations such as Ocean Winds (OW), RWE, and Korea Midland Power.
YIDO is also pursuing a biogas project that transforms organic waste, such as food waste, sewage sludge, and animal and plant residues, into energy, which is gaining attention as a next-generation eco-friendly energy business.
Including Jeju, they are operating a system for industrial waste treatment that processes 14,000 tons (t) a day, covering 'waste collection, transportation, interim treatment, recycling, incineration, and landfilling.'
Junghun Choi CEO of YIDO, noted, ‘Through this Dangjin solar power project, we will further solidify the position of an environmental specialized corporation engaged in waste processing and renewable energy business.’
