Last year, the apartment selling price in Seoul increased by more than 9 million won per pyeong, marking the highest rate of increase since the aggregation began.
According to the Housing and Urban Guarantee Corporation (HUG) on the 27th, the average selling price of private apartments in Seoul per 3.3 square meters (1 pyeong) was 44,089,000 won, a 25.9% increase from the previous year (35,008,000 won). Both the selling price and the rate of increase are the highest since HUG began compiling related statistics in 2015.
In 2015, the selling price per pyeong in Seoul was 19,970,000 won, more than doubling in nine years. In 2023, it recorded the highest rate of increase again this year, rising 17.4% compared to the previous year.
Accordingly, the rate of increase in the selling price per pyeong in the metropolitan area also showed the highest figure last year. Last year, the selling price per pyeong in the metropolitan area was 28,136,000 won, up 15.4% from the previous year. The selling price in the metropolitan area was below 20 million won per pyeong until 2020 but consistently increased to 20,929,000 won in 2021, 21,240,000 won in 2022, and 24,387,000 won.
On a national basis, the selling price per pyeong also recorded a high of 18,896,000 won, though the rate of increase was the highest in 2023. The national selling price per pyeong in 2023 was 17,392,000 won, an increase of 12.3% compared to the previous year (15,488,000 won). The rate of increase last year was 8.6%.
