Former Minister of Employment and Labor Kim Moon-soo, who was a candidate for the People Power Party in the 21st presidential election, declared his candidacy for party leader on the 20th.
Former Minister Kim announced at a press conference at the party's office in Yeouido, "I declare my candidacy for the leadership of the People Power Party with a heavy heart."
He said, "I decided to run to restore our party and regain the trust of the people at a time when the foundation of free Korea is under threat." He added, "As party leader, I will prevent the runaway of the Lee Jae-myung administration and innovate the People Power Party to lead the free democratic Republic of Korea to greater heights."
He further claimed, "Under Lee Jae-myung's one-man dictatorship, Korea is no longer a democratic republic," and asserted, "Anti-American, far-left, and criminal forces have taken over the Lee Jae-myung government and the Democratic Party."
He added, "I will transform the People Power Party into a strong party that can properly confront the Lee Jae-myung administration," and said, "I will revive the People Power Party and ensure the protection of free Korea."
