The former minister's side announced through a text notice that "a press conference regarding the former minister's candidacy for party leader is scheduled for 2 p.m. on the 20th at the People Power Party headquarters." After the press conference, the former minister is expected to visit disaster-stricken areas.
At the press conference, the former minister plans to declare his candidacy for party leader in the party convention scheduled for next month on the 22nd.
Currently, the candidates for party leader in the People Power Party convention include lawmakers Ahn Cheol-soo and Jo Kyung-tae, who have already announced their candidacies. Former leader Han Dong-hoon is also reportedly considering running. Lawmaker Na Kyung-won declared on Facebook that she will not run in the convention.
