On the 17th, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister candidate Koo Yun-cheol stated, "If I am inaugurated as the Minister of Economy and Finance, I will restructure the existing divisions to establish a new Artificial Intelligence (AI) Division."
On that day, candidate Koo, who attended the National Assembly hearing, replied that proactive responses and bold investments are necessary for the AI industry.
He emphasized that regarding President Lee Jae-myung's "100 trillion won investment pledge" presented during his candidacy, it is a sign that the government has a strong commitment to fostering the AI industry.
Candidate Koo explained, "This includes not only fiscal resources but also private capital," clarifying that the 100 trillion won scale encompasses total investments including both public finance and private investments.
Candidate Koo projected that AI could be utilized across various fields, including existing key industries like shipbuilding and automobiles, as well as drones and electronic trials. He stated that standardization of data and establishment of interconnection systems must precede this.
