Song Eon-seok, chairperson of the People Power Party's emergency response committee and floor leader, noted on the 13th regarding the activities of the Innovation Committee, "If we approach this by driving out a specific faction, we will inevitably face defeat."
Chairperson Song appeared on KBS "Sunday Diagnosis Live" that day and said, "The Innovation Committee first talked about personnel liquidation, but it seems the order of tasks has been reversed."
Chairperson Song stated, "It is everyone's responsibility, and we must think that we should approach this with the spirit that everyone is both an object and a subject of innovation." He added, "When we organize the events that occurred during the presidential election, it should follow the order of clarifying wrongdoings and holding people accountable. However, by skipping the previous process and mentioning personnel liquidation, it has resulted in a lack of justification or legitimacy."
He emphasized, "I agreed with what former chairperson Ahn Cheol-soo said about writing the presidential election white paper first" and added, "New leadership is necessary for the party to be reborn."
Regarding the fact that members of the People Power Party are under investigation by the independent counsel, he criticized, "The independent counsel is ultimately becoming a weapon of power and degenerating into a means of dictatorship," calling it "an attempt to annihilate the opposition or politically motivated independent counsel."
Democratic Party of Korea member Park Chan-dae pointed out regarding the 'Special Act on Rebellion' proposed to halt government subsidies for parties involved in rebellion cases, "This is a clear oppression of the opposition and politically retaliatory legislation."
