On the 13th, Chairperson Yoon Hee-suk of the People Power Party stated that she would consider personnel who foster an atmosphere opposing apologies and reflections regarding the impeachment of former President Yoon Suk-yeol as targets for personnel renewal.
During a press conference held at the central party office in Yeouido, Seoul, Chairperson Yoon noted, "Those who say there is no need to apologize or reflect anymore while failing to cross the sea of impeachment are pushing the party into a path of death," adding that "such individuals are the top priority for personnel renewal."
She emphasized, "Those who have made mistakes leading up to this point must apologize individually," and also highlighted, "I urge apologies as Chairperson of the Innovation Committee. That is the first step towards party renewal."
Chairperson Yoon stated, "I believe there is a need to institutionalize personnel renewal, so I included a recall procedure for party members targeting all elected officials affiliated with the party, including National Assembly members, in the innovation plan," adding, "Former President Yoon would have trusted such individuals and those individuals need to leave the party."
The Innovation Committee explained the scope of personnel renewal, mentioning eight incidents. Specifically: ▲ failure in the presidential election ▲ attempts to change the presidential candidate ▲ reversal of positions on candidate unification ▲ protests by lawmakers in front of the presidential residence immediately after the martial law ▲ family involvement of the party leader in member board issues ▲ disregard of principles for proportional representation nominations during the 22nd general election ▲ amendments of party rules for certain individuals ▲ negligence in distorting the governance of the previous administration.
Chairperson Yoon remarked that "the targets for personnel renewal will become clear soon," adding, "Acknowledging past mistakes and claiming to start anew is what I consider renewal. For those who do not, strong recommendations should be made."
