Kim Moon-soo, former Minister of Employment and Labor who ran as a candidate for the People Power Party in the 21st presidential election, emphasized that "reflecting on whether the party is doing what it should for the nation and the people is the key to party innovation."
On the afternoon of the 11th, the former minister visited a café near Daegu City Hall to hold a closed meeting with young people, and he made these remarks during a press inquiry on current issues before the meeting.
He added, "Party approval ratings always fluctuate. Innovation is more important than an approval rating that has fallen to the 10% level."
In response to a question about whether he would challenge for party leadership, he said, "I will clarify my position once the schedule for the party convention is set."
Regarding the presidential election defeat, the former minister said, "I feel a heavy responsibility," and added, "Especially, I sincerely apologize for not succeeding despite the strong support from the citizens of Daegu and the people of Gyeongbuk."
As for the transition to a "single leadership system for the party representative" mentioned by Yoon Hee-sook, the head of the People Power Party's innovation committee, he cautiously remarked, "I believe the party will review and handle it well."
