Prime Minister Kim Min-seok said on the 10th, "The cost of living has risen more than 19% over the past four years," adding that "a comprehensive response related to the perceived inflation is necessary."
On the same day, Prime Minister Kim stated during the first ministerial meeting on national affairs held at the Government Sejong Center, "To manage prices, the government will mobilize all available means. We will secure stable supply of agricultural products through advance purchasing contracts, and continuously monitor the international oil market."
Regarding the ongoing record-breaking heat wave, Prime Minister Kim noted, "The heat wave has become a social disaster beyond just a meteorological issue," stating, "Protecting individuals in their livelihoods and workers at the national level is a task for the state."
He continued, "There are predictions that this year could see the highest demand for electricity ever," adding, "The government will prepare to ensure stable electricity supply regardless of any situations such as major equipment failures."
He also called for measures to stabilize housing for the working class. Prime Minister Kim said, "I will thoroughly check whether the strengthening of loan regulations is being properly implemented," adding that "on the one hand, we need to expand measures to increase the audience for housing benefits to reduce the burden on the working class." He also emphasized, "It is necessary to continue to recognize and verify the significant damages from charter fraud affecting people in their 20s and 30s."
