Lim Lee-ja, a member of the People Power Party, was elected as the chair of the National Assembly’s Strategy and Finance Committee on the 10th. This is the first time a woman has been elected as the chair of this committee.
On this day, the National Assembly elected Im as chair of the Strategy and Finance Committee with 210 votes in favor out of a total of 242 votes. The election followed the resignation of former Steering Committee Chair and Floor Leader Song Eon-seok of the People Power Party.
Lim has served as the secretary of the Environment and Labor Committee in the 20th and 21st National Assemblies and as the secretary of the Special Committee on Climate Crisis in the 22nd National Assembly.
Immediately after her election, Lim stated, “I will prioritize balanced financial operation, fair tax justice, and the recovery of the economy for the common people,” adding, “As the first female chairperson of the Strategy and Finance Committee, I promise to show a respected female leadership combining delicacy and decisiveness.”
