The ruling party and government announced on the 6th that they will execute 85% of the supplementary budget by the end of September.
Park Sang-hyeok, Spokesperson of the Democratic Party of Korea, held a briefing that afternoon at the National Assembly's communication hall, noting that these matters were discussed in a high-level meeting between the Democratic Party of Korea, the government, and the presidential office.
The spokesperson explained, "The party requested that the government execute the supplementary budget as quickly as possible to ensure that we do not miss the golden time for economic recovery," adding, "In response, the government reported a plan to execute 85% of the budget under management by the end of September."
The spokesperson said, "This is 15% higher than the target for the first supplementary budget execution," and noted, "The government will thoroughly manage projects aimed at enhancing consumer capacity, such as benefits for recovery consumption coupons and reimbursements for high-efficiency home appliance purchases, to ensure that the benefits are delivered promptly and without disruption to the people."
He added, "The ruling party and government recognized that recent consumer price inflation has fluctuated around 2%, with uncertainties such as volatility in international oil prices and abnormal weather patterns persisting, and that the price level is high due to accumulated inflation," and emphasized that there was a shared understanding that efforts must be made to stabilize the perceived cost of living.
He also stated, "The party requested that the government communicate closely with the industry and others to minimize the price increase rate of processed foods and to continue efforts to alleviate the burden on consumers," and added, "The government also decided to actively consider this."
