President Lee Jae-myung is scheduled to meet with over 200 bereaved families who lost family members in social disasters on the 16th.
The Presidential Office announced on the 2nd that "President Lee will carry out a schedule to listen to the opinions of the bereaved families of the Sewol ferry disaster, the Itaewon tragedy, the Muan air passenger plane incident, and the Osong underpass flooding."
President Lee is expected to meet with the bereaved families to offer comfort and hear their concerns about any shortcomings in government policy.
Earlier, President Lee visited the scene of the Itaewon tragedy on the 12th of last month to pay his respects.
On the same day, during a visit to the Han River Flood Control Center, he mentioned the Sewol ferry disaster and the 10.29 Itaewon tragedy, as well as the Osong underpass disaster, stating, "These are disaster incidents that could have been avoided if we had been a little more attentive." He continued, "I want to make it clear that such incidents will never happen under the Lee Jae-myung administration."
