The Presidential Committee on Policy Planning, serving as the transition committee for Lee Jae-myung's government, announced on the 2nd that the citizen participation body known as the "Citizens' Sovereignty Committee" has been launched.
The Citizens' Sovereignty Committee is a citizen participation and communication body under the Presidential Committee on Policy Planning. It is responsible for gathering policy ideas and opinions and reflecting them in the government's policy agenda.
The co-chairs include Shin Pil-kyun, chairman of the Finance and Ubuntu Foundation, and Cho Seung-rae, Spokesperson of the Presidential Committee on Policy Planning and a member of the Democratic Party of Korea. The vice chair is Song Chang-wook, a researcher at the Anti-Corruption Research Institute of the University of Seoul.
The Citizens' Sovereignty Committee is composed of 19 members, including 2 co-chairs, 1 vice chair, and 16 operating committee members.
The Presidential Committee on Policy Planning stated that the 16 operating committee members consist of individuals who can represent the interests of the people, including youth running a citizen policy participation platform, victims of rental fraud, social activists helping to resolve youth housing issues, and social movement activists related to climate and ecological transitions.
