President Lee Jae-myung will hold his first press conference since taking office at 10 a.m. on July 3. Spokesperson Kang Yu-jeong noted during a briefing at the Presidential Office in Yongsan, Seoul, that President Lee will mark the 30th day of his presidency with a press conference titled "30 Days of the President, Questions from the Press, Answers for the People."
This press conference will take place in a town hall meeting format. Questions will be posed by the press across various sectors such as people's economy, politics, diplomacy and security, society, and culture, and the president will respond.
Spokesperson Kang said, "This conference will be an opportunity to announce the early establishment of governance without a transition committee and to actively communicate about the future direction of governance and major policies."
Historically, presidents have held their first press conference around 100 days after taking office. A Presidential Office official commented on President Lee starting public communication relatively early, saying, "Above all, he started without a transition committee, and it's been over a month. There are questions about future policy directions, and the press represents the public by asking. That's why we arranged the conference on the 30th," adding that it is a statement of the president's determination to actively engage in communication about governance and to personally and proactively answer any curiosities like in a town hall meeting.
He continued, "There will be more specific discussions regarding the target, format, and style of the press conference."
