The President’s Office appointed Lee Dong-soo, former National Intelligence Service (NIS) Director General, as the First Deputy Director of the National Intelligence Service; Kim Ho-hong, former NIS Director General, as the Second Deputy Director; and Kim Hee-soo, an attorney, as the Vice Director for Planning and Coordination.
Deputy Director Lee was born in Imsil, North Jeolla Province, and graduated from Sungkyunkwan University with a degree in public administration. He has served as the head of the NIS’s Overseas Information Bureau and as an administrative officer at the National Security Council (NSC).
Deputy Director Kim was born in Yeongdong, North Chungcheong Province, and graduated from Kyungpook National University with a degree in public administration. He has previously served as the head of the New Security Research Center at the Institute for National Security Strategy (INSS) and as the head of the North Korea Strategy Division at the National Intelligence Service.
Vice Director Kim was born in Sunchang, North Jeolla Province, and graduated from Jeonju High School and Jeonbuk National University with a degree in law. He passed the 29th bar exam and has served as a prosecutor at the Seoul, Suwon, and Gunsan District Prosecutors' Offices. He worked as a standing committee member of the Presidential Commission on Investigation of Suspicious Deaths and has also served as a professor at Jeonbuk National University Faculty of Law.
