People Power Party lawmaker Joo Jin-woo criticized Prime Minister nominee Kim Min-seok, saying, "It’s like matching puzzles with the public."
Lawmaker Joo, a member of the National Assembly's special committee for the prime minister nominee's confirmation hearing, noted on the 24th on his Facebook that "Kim’s justification only shows 'advantageous puzzle pieces.'"
In particular, lawmaker Joo pointed out the materials related to his son's overseas study expenses, stating, "They do not disclose who transferred the tuition fees," and added, "If he is innocent, he could just call his son and show one page of the account." He continued, "The disclosure of numbers has nothing to do with privacy."
He also pointed out the controversy regarding congratulatory and condolence money. Lawmaker Joo stated, "There was profit from the congratulatory money, but suddenly it is said that it was all given to his mother-in-law," and added, "The condolence money of 160 million won for my deceased father-in-law was kept entirely by nominee Kim without giving any to his mother-in-law."
"It is said that the mother-in-law returned 100 million won in cash to the spouse after keeping some of the congratulatory money received from nominee Kim at home, and also transferred another 100 million won," and he sarcastically remarked, "At this point, only the cabinet with cash has changed."
Lawmaker Joo claimed, "They spent 600 million won in cash without paying taxes, and the public knows nothing about it, yet there is no data," and asserted, "No one knows whether there is remaining cash, who gave it for what purpose, or how much actually came in."
During the two-day confirmation hearing for nominee Kim that started on this day, members of the People Power Party's confirmation special committee criticized, "The hearing is a place for asking and listening, but nominee Kim is creating a 'no-question hearing,'" calling it "in effect a black-out hearing."
