Kim Byeong-ki, the acting leader and floor leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, urged the People Power Party on the 23rd to urgently process a supplementary budget of 30 trillion won for domestic recovery and the people's economy, saying, "Let’s hold a National Assembly plenary session this week."
On the same day, Floor Leader Kim emphasized at a Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly in the morning, saying, "We need to relieve the public's thirst through the swift deployment of recovery funds and ignite the sparks of domestic consumption."
Floor Leader Kim also requested cooperation in the nomination process of Prime Minister candidate Kim Min-seok to respond to the rapidly changing international situation, such as the U.S. attack on Iran's mainland.
He expressed concern, saying, "The U.S. directly attacked Iran's mainland yesterday. The world is plunging into chaos and crisis. Korea faces a significant possibility of immediate inflation and stronger trade pressures. It is truly a national complex crisis situation with an internal conflict crisis overlapping with a war in the Middle East."
He continued, "For the government to respond adequately, the Prime Minister, who will lead the cabinet in an emergency, must be confirmed as soon as possible," adding, "We cannot waste time on blind party interests and foot-dragging. I urge the People Power Party to cooperate in decisively confirming Kim Min-seok as Prime Minister."
Meanwhile, the Democratic Party will hold the launch ceremony of the 'Price Stabilization Task Force (TF)' on the 23rd to establish measures for price control and will begin full-fledged activities. Floor Leader Kim stated, "We will concentrate the party's efforts to prepare measures that the public can feel, such as stabilizing food prices and public utilities."
