From June 1 to 20, exports amounted to $38.7 billion, an increase of 8.3% compared to the same period last year, the tariff office announced on the 23rd.
According to the '2025 June 1-20 export and import status' released by the tariff office on this day, exports during this period recorded $37.672 billion. This represents an increase of 8.3% compared to the export performance of $35.697 billion from the same period last year.
Considered on working days, the average daily exports increased by 12.2% compared to the same period last year. From June 1 to 20 this year, the number of working days was 14, which is 0.5 days less than the 14.5 days from the same month last year.
By item, semiconductor exports increased significantly by 21.8%. Exports of passenger cars (9.2%) and ships (47.9%) also increased.
On the other hand, exports of wireless communication devices (-33.1%) and petroleum products (-0.5%) decreased.
The share of semiconductors in total exports increased by 2.5 percentage points to 22.9%.
By region, exports to the United States increased by 4.3%. Exports to the European Union (EU) also increased by 23.5%. In contrast, exports to China and Vietnam decreased by 1.0% and 4.3%, respectively.
During this period, imports amounted to $36.051 billion, an increase of 5.3% compared to the same period last year.
Imports of semiconductors and machinery increased by 19.0% and 8.8%, respectively. Imports of semiconductor manufacturing equipment also increased by 15.9%. Among energy resources, gas increased by 9.3%, while crude oil decreased by 0.6%. Coal also decreased by 28.4%. Imports of petroleum products also decreased by 17.4%.
The trade balance, which is exports minus imports, recorded a surplus of $2.621 billion. From January 1 to June 20 this year, the cumulative trade balance has recorded a surplus of $21.314 billion.
