President Lee Jae-myung nominated former LG Global Strategy Development Institute Director Yoon Chang-ryeol as the candidate for the head of the Office for Government Policy Coordination on the 23rd. Deputy Minister Yoon is expected to become the first 'internally appointed head of the Office for Government Policy Coordination' in the Prime Minister's Office.

Deputy Minister Yoon, born in 1967, hails from Wonju, Gangwon Province, and graduated from Wonju Daesung High School and the Department of International Relations at Seoul National University. He later completed a master's program at the Graduate School of Public Administration at Seoul National University and received a master's degree from the Department of Public Administration at American University in the United States.

Deputy Minister Yoon entered public service in 1990 through the 34th National Administrative Exam, serving in the Office of the Prime Minister and later assigned as a minister-counselor at the Embassy of Malaysia. After returning to the Prime Minister's Office, he held positions including management officer for national tasks and protocol secretary during the tenure of former Prime Minister Hwang Kyo-ahn.

During the Moon Jae-in administration, he held various key positions, including head of the Social Coordination Office and head of the National Operations Office at the Office for Government Policy Coordination. He later served as Senior Secretary for Social Affairs in the Blue House before returning to the Prime Minister's Office to serve as Deputy Minister 1 and 2.

He gained strong trust from every administration due to his excellent political sense and ability to handle situations. When he was appointed as Senior Secretary for Social Affairs in August 2020, he was evaluated internally as having exceptional capabilities in coordinating social fields such as welfare, education, culture, environment, and women, based on a balanced perspective on national policies.

The Office of the President stated that Deputy Minister Yoon demonstrated excellent capabilities in policy implementation while serving as the Deputy Ministers 1 and 2 and Senior Secretary for Social Affairs at the Office for Government Policy Coordination, adding, 'We expect him to restore the collapsed government system and resolve Korea's complex crises.'
