Forty-four Korean nationals and one overseas Korean with U.S. nationality, who were staying in Israel, safely evacuated to Egypt on the 23rd (local time) with close cooperation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, overseas missions, and the Korean community.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, "Forty-four Korean nationals and one overseas Korean with U.S. nationality arrived safely in Egypt using a bus provided by the government."
The evacuation was carried out in close coordination with the Israeli Embassy, the Egyptian Embassy, the Korean Association in Israel, and the Korean Association in Egypt. The Korean Association in Israel voluntarily identified the demand for evacuation and communicated it to the Israeli Embassy, which assisted them by boarding them onto buses and accompanying them to the Israel-Egypt border to facilitate the exit procedures.
Afterwards, the Egyptian Embassy assisted with the entry procedures into Egypt and transported them to the capital Cairo via rented buses. The Korean Association in Egypt arranged for the evacuees to stay temporarily in the homes of local Koreans in Cairo.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated, "The Egyptian Embassy plans to provide necessary consular assistance, such as information on return flights."
Meanwhile, the government has issued a travel advisory at Level 3 (departure recommended) for all areas of Israel and Iran since the 17th. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized, "Korean nationals who are still staying in the area should be especially careful about their personal safety and should leave promptly in accordance with the guidance of the host country’s embassy."
As the situation worsens in the Middle East adjacent to Israel, this evacuation is assessed as a case where the government and private sectors collaboratively worked to protect nationals in a crisis situation.
