The Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) announced on the 20th that it held the 3rd "Korea-Saudi Arabia Military Cooperation Committee" with the Saudi Arabian General Staff to discuss ways to enhance cooperation in the defense industry and military exchanges.
During the meeting held on the 19th (local time) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the two countries assessed the recent international security situation and discussed major agenda items such as the activation of military exchanges, cooperation in training, and defense industry collaboration.
The meeting was attended by 11 members of the Korean side, including Major General Son Jeong-hwan, head of the Strategic Planning Division of the JCS, and 10 members from the Saudi side, including Lieutenant General Hamad Lafe Al-Amri, head of the General Staff.
Major General Son noted, "Military and defense cooperation with Saudi Arabia is important for the security of the Middle East and the development of a forward-looking strategic partnership," and added, "We will produce practical results based on mutual trust and friendship between the two countries."
Lieutenant General Al-Amri, head of the Saudi delegation, said, "We consider our partnership with the Republic of Korea to be very important," and expressed hope that "we will continue to maintain close cooperation in the areas of training and defense industry."
