The National Planning Committee expressed disappointment about the government’s work report, which is now in its second day. They pointed out that it lacks substance in fulfilling the promises presented by President Lee Jae-myung during the presidential campaign. The National Planning Committee plans to conduct a work report for all ministries again soon.
Spokesperson Cho Seung-rae held a briefing on the 19th and said, “The content of the work report conducted the previous day can be described in one word as extremely disappointing,” adding, “There was a lack of analysis of the promises and little reflection, consisting merely of a listing of outdated topics.”
He emphasized, “In some ministries, there were instances where the promises were used as a pretext to present what the ministry wanted to do,” and noted, “Unfortunately, the past three years of President Yoon Suk-yeol’s government and the six-month state of emergency have shown just how chaotic and collapsed the public service has become.”
The National Planning Committee is conducting a government work report from the previous day until the 20th. On the previous day, work reports for 13 ministries, including the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Ministry of Science and ICT, and the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, were held. Today, reports for 15 ministries, including the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, will take place.
Spokesperson Cho said, “We will proceed with a level of work report that will again receive reports from all ministries,” and added, “We will ensure that various thoughts pointed out and suggested during the three days of reporting are well reflected, while deeply contemplating the new government's national vision and philosophy to conduct a proper work report.”
He added, “The format and schedule of future work reports will be discussed separately with the ministries,” and stated, “The current work report material is really poor and hardly seems adequate for planning the new government’s five years.”
On this day, the National Planning Committee established a 'Tax and Fiscal Reform Task Force (TF).' Democratic Party lawmaker Jeong Tae-ho, who is the head of the Economic Division 1, will lead the TF. Joining as team members are Democratic Party lawmakers Ahn Do-geol, Oh Gi-hyeong, and Kim Nam-hee.
