Kim Byeong-ki, the acting leader of the Democratic Party of Korea and floor leader, said on the 19th to the People Power Party, “Please stop being obsessed and stubborn and join us in upholding the greater good of restoring the livelihoods of the people.”
Kim urged the People Power Party for cooperation in processing the supplementary budget, saying at a policy coordination meeting held at the National Assembly that “This supplementary budget plan is designed based on the principle of universal support payments for restoring livelihoods, which our party has consistently emphasized.”
He added, “The supplementary budget plan reflects President Lee Jae-myung's will and includes additional support measures for vulnerable groups,” and stated, “The National Assembly has many tasks to accomplish for reviewing the supplementary budget, such as the formation of the Special Committee on Budget & Accounts and the selection of its chairperson.”
Kim further emphasized, “Let’s resolve the supplementary budget as soon as possible, even if it takes just one day, so we can address the issue of the people's livelihoods first. This is the way to save the people who are in misery and rescue those who are on the verge of a civil upheaval.”
