Kim Yong-tae, chairperson of the People Power Party emergency committee, said on the 19th, "We must stand on the side of change, not entrenched interests, in the direction that the people want."
The chairperson attended a forum hosted by the 'Legislators' Group Desiring Reform of the Party' held in the National Assembly's 의원회관 that morning and noted, "Change is not a choice but a condition for survival."
The chairperson stated, "Innovation must be practice, not just words. I have brought up reform proposals for this reason. It is a minimal effort to show the public that I am painfully reflecting and struggling to change."
He added, "A party that fails to meet public expectations will be eliminated," and said, "We must change the structure where entrenched interests and public sentiment diverge."
This is interpreted as a repeated emphasis on the necessity for internal reform in a situation where his five major reform proposals, including the 'nullification of the party stance against impeachment,' are not making much progress.
He emphasized, "As the chairperson of the emergency committee, I will ensure the flow of innovation is maintained until the end," and added, "We have no place to retreat. If there is an unchanging truth, it is that there is no trust without innovation, and no future without trust."
