People Power Party floor leader Song Eon-seok said on the 19th, "President Lee Jae-myung should promptly confirm his attendance at the NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) summit scheduled for the 24th to 25th and also expedite talks with U.S. President Donald Trump."

Floor leader Song said at a personnel hearing strategy meeting held at the National Assembly that morning, "I had hoped President Lee and President Trump would meet as soon as possible, but unfortunately, the ROK-U.S. summit was not realized at this G7 (Group of Seven) summit."

Floor leader Song stated, "The deadline for the U.S. mutual tariff exemption period is approaching on July 8," and added, "The situation in Iran is rapidly changing, and many experts point out that the Iranian nuclear issue is linked to the North Korean nuclear issue."

He emphasized, "At such times, I think it is necessary for the president to attend the NATO summit and, not only meet with President Trump, but also engage with leaders of various countries to clearly demonstrate Korea's firm commitment to standing in the camp of liberal democracy."
