The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced on the 18th that it held the '9th Korea-China Free Trade Agreement (FTA) Technical Barriers to Trade Committee' in Beijing, China, and discussed measures to resolve issues related to technical barriers to trade.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety also participated in this meeting.
During the meeting, the government conveyed the industry's difficulties related to Korea's major exports, including ▲ regulations on the approval and registration of cosmetics and audits of overseas manufacturing sites in China ▲ medical device approval regulations in China ▲ and standards for Korean red ginseng.
It also examined the pilot project for product carbon footprint labeling certification announced by the Chinese government last year and the trends in post-market management of China's mandatory certification (CCC certification) to understand the impact on domestic export corporations.
It requested to expand the opportunities for participation in audits for CCC certification factory auditors by local certification bodies in China.
A government official said, 'The pilot project for product carbon footprint labeling certification is likely to be expanded after pilot implementation on 1 to 2 products by each local government in China,' and added, 'We plan to gather detailed information and share it with related corporations.'
