Lee Un-joo, a supreme council member of the Democratic Party of Korea, criticized the People Power Party for intensifying its offensive regarding allegations against Prime Minister nominee Kim Min-seok, stating, "Prime Minister Han Duck-soo was not endorsed because he had no flaws and was flawless."
On this day, the supreme council member remarked during the supreme council meeting and through Facebook, "The appointment of those who will oversee state affairs, including the prime minister, must be completed as soon as possible so that we can focus on revitalizing the economy and restoring livelihoods; however, the People Power Party is not cooperating at all.""
She also emphasized, "I remember that during the Yoon Suk-yeol government, when the then Prime Minister nominee faced various allegations, he caused controversy with insufficient document submission; the reason he was endorsed despite receiving enormous allegations was that there was a prevailing atmosphere to cooperate for the new government's launch."
The allegations regarding Prime Minister Han mentioned by the supreme council member include: ▲ suspicion of receiving 2 billion won along with failure to submit the Kim & Chang labor contract and work details ▲ 6 million won in rental income related to American corporations such as ExxonMobil and AT&T, indicating a conflict of interest and financial transactions ▲ holding an exhibition for his wife during his tenure as ambassador to the United States.
The supreme council member further stated, "Prime Minister nominee Kim Min-seok is an excellent figure who possesses strong policy capabilities for the economy and people's livelihoods, willingness to promote market-friendly policies, a commitment to national unity, and pragmatism," adding, "The proactive disclosure of the fact that he has settled public debts and the results of handling private debts, as well as the utilization in his children's entrance examinations, shows his political responsibility."
She continued, "The economic crisis and livelihood issues we face must be cooperated on without distinction between the ruling and opposition parties or between conservatives and progressives," urging, "If the People Power Party reflects on having produced and defended the truly treasonous President Yoon Suk-yeol, they should cease their unreasonable offensives that hinder state affairs."
