The Democratic Party of Korea's committee on the investigation of the insurrection raised suspicions on the 15th that the Military Counterintelligence Command created a so-called 'blacklist' document detailing the political tendencies and connections of current and former generals under the Yoon Suk-yeol government.
In doing so, they urged that former Minister of National Defense Kim Yong-hyun and former Military Counterintelligence Command Director Yeo In-hyung be additionally indicted.
Director General Choo Mi-ae and Representative Park Sun-won stated on that morning at the National Assembly communication hall that they had received reports regarding the Military Counterintelligence Command's preparation of a blacklist and raised suspicions.
Representative Choo noted, "It is said that since Yeo In-hyung took office as commander in November 2023, the counterintelligence agency prepared a so-called blacklist document summarizing the personal information, political tendencies, and relationships with the Democratic Party of current and former generals."
She further claimed, "The counterintelligence agency is originally a supplementary organization responsible for conducting background checks and verifications on personnel documents submitted by each military's personnel offices, but Yeo In-hyung allegedly attempted to interfere with the appointments of generals to align with the tastes of the Yoon Suk-yeol administration by categorizing their political tendencies."
Representative Choo mentioned the report details, stating, "This blacklist was allegedly prepared under the leadership of Colonel Na Seung-min, who received personnel privileges as a temporary colonel, after Yeo In-hyung instructed the security office to report to superiors."
She continued, "In particular, it is said that Yeo In-hyung aimed to dominate the entire Army's personnel management with documents indicating plans for Yoon Suk-yeol and Kim Yong-hyun, not merely for practical reporting purposes."
Representative Park stated, "This incident involving the Military Counterintelligence Command's blacklist is a major constitutional violation crime intertwined with illegal surveillance, unlawful mobilization, personnel intervention, and a conspiracy to insurrection," urging additional indictments against former Minister Kim, former Counterintelligence Command Director Yeo, former capital defense commander Lee Jin-woo, and former intelligence commanders Noh Sang-won and Moon Sang-ho.
He also emphasized, "A comprehensive investigation of the reality of secret organizations within the intelligence agency must be conducted, and preventive measures should be established so that military intelligence agencies, including counterintelligence, do not assess the political tendencies of civilians or intervene in politics again."
