Ahn Cheol-soo, a member of the People Power Party, said on the 15th that the newly elected floor leader must engage in "endless self-reflection and remorse," and added, "We must never turn a blind eye to our responsibilities regarding the martial law and impeachment. The only path to a new beginning is to reflect and renew ourselves until the people say, 'It’s done.'"

Ahn noted on that day on his Facebook that "the election of the new floor leader and the subsequent steps will be a significant turning point that will shape the future of the party." The People Power Party will elect its new floor leader on the 16th. This comes after Kweon Seong-dong, the floor leader, expressed his intention to resign, taking responsibility for the presidential election defeat.

Ahn said, "The party convention should also be held promptly," adding, "The new floor leader should act as the chairperson of the emergency committee starting in July and hold the party convention in August. The longer the emergency committee system lasts, the weaker the momentum for reform becomes."

He further added, "Power that is unselected has no legitimacy, so we must quickly select a new party leader to rebuild from the roots. Half-hearted compromises and half-baked reforms will only hasten the party's demise."

Ahn emphasized, "In negotiations with the ruling party, a cold strategy and flexible wisdom are needed," stating, "Amid the domestic economic recession, the U.S.-China power struggle, tariffs, and security instability, we must certainly check the perilous security policies and populism of the Lee Jae-myung government."

He also urged, "At the same time, please embrace practical flexibility to actively negotiate policies for the people's lives and future."

Additionally, he emphasized that the new floor leader must "cooperate with the special prosecution process."

Ahn stated, "We can only criticize others if we are dignified. Let us boldly leave behind what we must leave behind. That is the first step to regaining trust before the people," and added, "Please approach your work with the determination that 'we must die to survive.' With an attitude of gratitude towards the people's sharp discipline, I hope you take the lead in the path of rigorous reform and innovation."
