Yoon Geon-young, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea who previously served as the director of the National Security Office in the Moon Jae-in administration, said regarding the '12·3 martial law' insurrection special prosecutor investigation, “There should be no reconciliation or forgiveness.”
On the evening of the 13th, Yoon appeared on CBS Radio's 'Park Jae-hong’s One-on-One Battle' and said, “We must ensure that such actions that aim guns at the hearts of the people never happen again.”
He continued, “Special prosecutor Jo Eun-seok also said he would proceed with a sense of responsibility, and that is correct,” adding, “We must ensure that there are consequences.”
Yoon is considered to be one of former President Moon's closest aides. He was appointed as the director of the National Security Office right after the launch of the Moon Jae-in administration in May 2017 and served for about 2 years and 8 months.
He stated, “If you begin to offer reconciliation and forgiveness regarding illegal insurrection once, what would happen next?” adding, “It is unacceptable to have no detention for instigating an insurrection and then offer reconciliation and forgiveness.”
Yoon also pointed out regarding the presidential transition, “In a situation without a presidential transition committee, we had to create everything step by step, but this time, it was even worse than what we experienced.”
He remarked, “The Yoon Suk-yeol government should be helping the Lee Jae-myung government with the relay, but they are not thinking like that at all and even issued orders for the return of civil servants.”
He continued, “Don’t even tell me where the computer is, and don’t connect the printer. Does this make sense?” adding, “This is ridiculous. This has crossed the line; it is too much.”
