Spokesperson Kim Sung-hwa said in a written briefing on the 14th, “The police and relevant local governments are urged to sternly respond to the illegal act of distributing North Korean leaflets,” and “(to the Family Assembly Abducted to North Korea) requests contemplation.”

Spokesperson Kim noted, “The act of distributing North Korean leaflets is likely a violation of current laws such as the Aviation Safety Act,” and “I hope we can work together for true human rights protection in North Korea and peace on the Korean Peninsula rather than unnecessarily threatening the safety of residents in the border area.”

He added, “During the past three years of the Yoon Suk-yeol administration, trapped in ideology and factional logic, the September 19 military agreement has been invalidated, and tensions between the North and South have reached their peak,” emphasizing, “The damage has been borne entirely by the public, including residents in the border area.”

Spokesperson Kim further stated, “I expect the Lee Jae-myung administration to prioritize the safety and interests of the public above all else. The Democratic Party will also do its utmost to ensure peace on the Korean Peninsula and the safety of residents in the border area,” adding, “The mutual derogatory sounds that had been echoing near the Military Demarcation Line ceased immediately from the day after President Lee Jae-myung ordered the complete halt of broadcast to North Korea.”
