The People Power Party strongly criticized President Lee Jae-myung's appointment of the 'three special prosecutors.'

Na Kyung-won, a member of the People Power Party, criticized the appointment of special prosecutors related to President Lee Jae-myung's 'three special prosecutors' (involvement in rebellion, Kim Keon-hee, and Chae Sang-byeong) on social media on the 13th, calling it 'the prelude to dictatorship.'

Earlier, President Lee Jae-myung nominated Jo Eun-seok, former acting head of the Board of Audit and Inspection, as the special prosecutor for rebellion; Min Joong-ki, former chief judge of Seoul Central District Court, for the Kim Keon-hee special prosecutor; and Lee Myung-hyeon, former chief of the prosecution division at the Ministry of National Defense, for the Chae Sang-byeong special prosecutor.

Na noted, 'The completion of the dismantling of the prosecution that began with the reform of the prosecution and the establishment of the CIO is the prosecution dismantlement laws. Now, it will completely change the judicial framework in Korea, taking over the prosecution and completing the subjugation of the investigatory powers.'

'The damage from issues such as systemic confusion, investigative backlog, and gaps in crime response falls squarely on the people,' Na said, adding, 'Their relentless pursuit of the completion of dictatorial power knows no bounds. I strongly urge an immediate withdrawal.'

Na said, '(President Lee Jae-myung) thinks of the opposition not as a partner in governance but only as a target to destroy.' She added, 'No matter what, the people will not lose hope in the largest opposition party. We will move forward with the determination to uphold freedom and the rule of law and to restore the trust of the people.'

Song Eon-seok, a representative campaigning for the People Power Party's parliamentary leader position, also strongly criticized the appointment on Kim Hyun-jung's news show that day, calling it 'political retaliation.'

During the appearance on CBS Radio’s Kim Hyun-jung's news show that morning, Song said, 'Our party's basic stance has been against special prosecutors,' adding, '(the nomination of special prosecutors) is fundamentally political retaliation in my view.'

Song pointed out that 'President Lee said during the election process that there would be no political retaliation, but in reality, she indicated that power must be wielded very cruelly,' adding, 'The (three special prosecutors) laws were passed unilaterally right after the election. This cannot be anything other than a politically retaliatory stance regarding the election results, implying that she does not recognize the opposition as a counterpart for dialogue.'

Song also commented on the People Power Party not being nominated as the party recommending special prosecutors, stating, 'In such a situation, the president made appointments in the middle of the night. Considering that there are many national issues, it makes me wonder if it was so urgent to appoint special prosecutors targeting the opposing party.'

Kim Jae-seop, a member of the People Power Party, also joined in the criticism by calling it 'dictatorship by the ruling party.'

He pointed out on SBS Radio that morning, 'This is not just political rhetoric or investigation; it is a clear notion of eliminating this party (People Power Party) so that the ruling party can exercise dictatorship. Even if President Lee Jae-myung is in her honeymoon period, there are certain limits to what should be maintained, and acting in this manner is too excessive.'
