Representative Woo Jae-jun of the People Power Party, classified as a member of the 'pro-relationship faction,' expressed support for extending the term of Chairperson Kim Yong-tae.
On the afternoon of the 12th, Representative Woo met with reporters in the National Assembly communication room and said, “We must accept Chairperson Kim Yong-tae's reform proposals. I also agree with extending (Chairperson Kim's) term.”
Earlier, Chairperson Kim stated that in order to reform the party facing a crisis, he would pursue five reform tasks: ▲ hold a national convention by early September ▲ invalidate the party's stance against the impeachment of the president ▲ clarify the circumstances surrounding the replacement of the presidential candidate ▲ establish procedures reflecting the party's and public's opinions ▲ implement 100% bottom-up nominations for local elections.
Regarding the meeting of lawmakers, Representative Woo said, “Realistically, we are in a situation where we need to elect a floor leader, but I am still considering formal requests,” adding, “The momentum for dialogue should not be lost in any form.”
On this day, over 30 young officials from the People Power Party also supported Chairperson Kim's reform proposals. They demanded that the national convention be held within August and requested the extension of Chairperson Kim's term until the national convention. Additionally, they urged the party to support Kim's 'five major innovation plans.'
