Park Su-young, a member of the People Power Party (Strategy and Finance Committee secretary for Nam District, Busan), announced on the 12th that efforts to establish a specialized financial autonomous private high school (hereinafter referred to as financial autonomous private high school) in Nam District, Busan have become more concrete.
According to Representative Park Su-young's office, a site near the Yongho-dong cruise terminal in Nam District, Busan (with an area of 23,303.4㎡) was finalized as the top priority negotiation target for attracting the financial autonomous private high school.
The Busan autonomous private high school site selection committee (hereinafter referred to as the selection committee) announced that after repeated evaluations of the three candidate locations of Nam District, Gangseo District, and Haeundae District, they chose Nam District. The financial autonomous private high school plans to undergo substantial preparations with the aim of establishing a school foundation within the year and opening in 2029.
Nam District functions as an international financial hub with core financial infrastructure such as Munhyeon Financial Complex and Busan International Finance Center (BIFC) concentrated there. Additionally, Nam District is designated as a special education internationalization zone, receiving evaluations as having the foundation for establishing a financial autonomous private high school. The site is connected via a six-lane road, offering excellent accessibility, and it boasts a pleasant environment with the sea unfolding right in front.
The region anticipates various positive effects from attracting the financial autonomous private high school. The plan is to nurture financial talent based on a curriculum specialized in international finance, establishing Nam District as the center of financial education in Korea. Furthermore, the establishment and operation of the school are expected to contribute to regional economic revitalization through the creation of new jobs, increased housing and consumption demand, and the linkage of education and the financial industry.
Representative Park said, “I would like to express my gratitude to all Nam District residents who trusted and supported us,” adding, “I will communicate closely with relevant agencies as well as local residents until the successful attraction of the financial autonomous private high school.”
