Lim Ki-geun, the newly appointed 2nd Vice Minister responsible for the budget and finance line at the Ministry of Economy and Finance, emphasized the need for a swift supplementary budget.

On the first day of assuming office on the 11th, Vice Minister Lim visited the press room of the Ministry of Economy and Finance and noted, “We are diligently preparing for the supplementary budget,” adding, “Given the extremely difficult economic situation, we need to proceed swiftly.” He further elaborated that they would “carefully” review the projects, checking their effectiveness.

It is analyzed to mean that while pushing swiftly for the creation of the supplementary budget bill, they intend to allocate resources by weighing the efficiency of fiscal spending and policy effectiveness. He also noted, “We are considering composing projects that can achieve the dual purposes of boosting the economy and stabilizing people's livelihoods,” and added, “It should provide direct help to our citizens experiencing difficulties.”

In his inaugural remarks, Vice Minister Lim stated, “Our economy is facing unprecedented difficulties,” and said, “I will ensure that finances play their necessary role in responding to the economic crisis, discovering new growth drivers, structural changes, and community recovery.”
