The People Power Party abruptly canceled its lawmakers' meeting, scheduled for 2 p.m. on the 11th. It explained the decision as a comprehensive consideration of the need to focus the party's capabilities on lending struggles and the possibility that it could be perceived as an internal conflict.
Kweon Seong-dong, the floor leader, announced the cancellation of the afternoon meeting through a notice that day, stating, "Given that we held a condemnation rally at the party level this morning regarding the postponement of President Lee Jae-myung's trial, it was unavoidable to cancel the meeting, considering the need to focus the party's response and message on this matter."
He added, "Additionally, we also considered the concern that continuing the lawmakers' meeting could be seen as an appearance of internal conflict and division within the party."
The floor leader explained, "This decision reflects the fact that the current floor leadership's term ends this week, and that thorough discussions and adjustments on major issues are needed."
He added, "I believe that the various opinions previously discussed by the lawmakers should be faithfully conveyed to the new floor leadership to be elected on the 16th, and that it is reasonable for the incoming leadership to continue the discussions."
The People Power Party originally planned to hold a lawmakers' meeting that afternoon to continue discussions on the next leadership structure and the five major reform proposals suggested by Kim Yong-tae, the emergency committee chairman.
