The Democratic Party held a joint candidate debate at the National Assembly building in Yeouido, Seoul, in the afternoon. The debate was broadcast live on YouTube.

Seo Yong-kyo, a floor leader candidate, said in a keynote speech, “How difficult it has been for you during the three years of the Yoon Seok-yeol regime because of Yoon Seok-yeol, Kim Keon-hee, and the prosecutors. Because of them, Korea's economy has crumbled, democracy has been trampled, and the (then) party leader of the Democratic Party, Lee Jae-myung, was brutally attacked,” he noted.

He continued, “Now it is time to end the insurrection and revive the economy,” noting that with President Lee Jae-myung’s election, the KOSPI is soaring and the exchange rate is plummeting.

Seo said, “Now is the 'golden time' to revive Korea's economy,” adding that, as President Lee proposed, they should create a supplementary budget of 30 trillion won to provide disaster relief funds to all citizens, introduce local currencies, ease corporate regulations to help corporations thrive, and take measures to support small business owners to revitalize the economy.

He asserted, “I am the prepared floor leader who can end the insurrection and revitalize the economy, Seo Yong-kyo,” and pledged, “I will act as the eternal bridge for the people, making a world where you say, ‘Life is good’, and achieve an economic resurgence.”

Candidate Kim stated, “The floor leader elected this time will work with President Lee Jae-myung, who holds the strongest reform momentum for one year,” adding, “We must build the best government-party relationship to flawlessly implement President Lee's national philosophy.”

He continued, “To this end, we must skillfully handle official negotiations with the opposition party, as well as unofficial behind-the-scenes discussions. Also, a strong driving force is necessary to complete national tasks. I am ready,” he declared.

Candidate Kim said, “Having worked near 26 years at the National Intelligence Service, I have developed comprehensive judgment skills over personnel and intelligence in general,” noting, “If I become floor leader, I will clearly distinguish between what can and cannot be negotiated and handle them accordingly.”

He added, “I will find and deal with each and every piece without any compromise in order to dispel the darkness caused by the faction of former President Yoon Seok-yeol and to end the insurrection. I will proactively and reasonably communicate with the opposition to achieve outcomes in areas such as restoring public livelihood, regional balanced development, restoring politics, and social integration.”
