Kim Yong-tae, Chairperson of the People Power Party's Emergency Response Committee, expressed his serious concerns regarding the internal reform plans and his future in the party, stating, "If even the reform plan is interpreted as my personal political agenda or an attempt to extend my term (until June 30), the party cannot move forward."

On the 8th, Chairperson Kim announced a party reform plan that includes ▲ holding a national convention by early September ▲ nullifying the party's stance against presidential impeachment ▲ clarifying the reasons for the unfair replacement of presidential candidates ▲ 100% top-down nomination (recommending candidates selected by party members and public opinion polls) as its core elements.

After the commemoration ceremony for the June 10 Democratic Uprising, Chairperson Kim met with reporters and emphasized, "I announced a reform plan to revitalize the party last Sunday, and this was a minimal step for the party to reflect on its past mistakes and regain the trust of the people."

Chairperson Kim proposed a vote among all party members to gather their opinions on the reform plan, stating, "Mentioning the term problem could be interpreted as a lack of willingness to accept the reform plan. I hope the lawmakers will provide a clear response to the reform plan."

He also expressed strong regret over the 'backstage rumor' raised in some party circles. Chairperson Kim remarked, "Did you consult with Han Dong-hoon (former chairperson), is it the intention of Kim Moon-soo (former presidential candidate), or even some lawmakers said, are you receiving orders from Lee Jun-seok (former presidential candidate of the Reform Party)?" and stated, "I really have no face to show the people."

He stated, "At a time when we need to gather our thoughts on how to reflect and reform after our presidential defeat, if the reform plan by the Emergency Response Committee Chairperson is interpreted solely as a political agenda, there is no future for the party as long as such lawmakers exist."

Chairperson Kim demanded a clear position regarding the reform plan from the lawmakers, saying, "What is needed now is not a political interpretation, but sincere changes and determination to regain the trust of the people."
