The Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) announced on the 10th that it will hold the 2025 Defense Offset Industry Cooperation event at the Daejeon Intercity Hotel for two days starting on the 10th.
At this event, jointly hosted by DAPA and the Agency for Defense Development, opportunities will be provided for domestic defense small and medium-sized enterprises to engage in one-on-one export negotiations with global defense corporations using the offset trade system.
Offset trade is a form of trade where, in exchange for purchasing weapons or equipment from abroad, domestic small and medium-sized enterprises export domestically made parts or receive related technology transfers.
The Defense Offset Industry Cooperation event has been held twice a year by DAPA since 2014. This year's event will see participation from 10 global corporations, including Lockheed Martin, Boeing, and Airbus, and over 30 domestic defense small and medium-sized enterprises.
During the export consultations, the interests of corporate procurement officers and industrial cooperation plans will be discussed. DAPA Offset Trade Directors will guide participating small and medium-sized enterprises on how to get involved.
Notably, this event will also host the "GVC (Global Value Chain) 30 Global Matching Day." Promising domestic defense small and medium-sized enterprises with high export potential will have the opportunity to negotiate directly with global corporations.
Kim Il-dong, Director General of the Defense Industry Promotion Bureau at DAPA, said, "We hope this will provide an opportunity for domestic small and medium-sized enterprises with excellent technological capabilities to participate as partners with global defense corporations, leading to export contracts."
