Moon Jae-in's former Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy Spokesperson, Moon Shin-hak, has been designated as the first Vice Minister of the ministry.

He, who faced hardships including being under investigation for leading the nuclear phase-out, was acquitted by the Supreme Court last year, freeing him from the allegations. His return to duty as Vice Minister has led to evaluations that he has also restored his honor.

The new Vice Minister, Moon, began his public service as part of the 38th Administrative Exam. He has experience in key roles within the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, and its predecessor ministries.

Within the ministry, he is known for his outstanding work ability and is referred to as a 'policy troubleshooter.'

From the acquisition of Hynix by SK Group to the 'thrifty gas station' project and the energy mix policy during the energy transition period, all have gone through his hands. While serving as the corporate cooperation section chief, he established the concept of 'mid-sized corporations,' reclassifying the corporate classification from 'large and small corporations' to 'large, mid-sized, and small corporations.' In 2015, during his tenure as the head of nuclear power policy, he also resolved conflicts related to the construction of a nuclear power plant in Yeongdeok, Gyeongbuk.

Evaluations suggest he is the right person to solve significant industrial challenges facing the Lee Jae-myung administration, from stabilizing prices to restructuring the petrochemical sector and building energy expressways.
